Application of the Soviet textbook

These arrests were taken from some Soviet KGB handbook in the chapter titled How To Break The People’s Enemy. They make no sense in trial, they give nothing. They are only a form of repression, making an impression, and giving the political benefit to the political beneficiaries. The three-letter service officers know it best. They are brutal, primitive and unnecessary. “Mr. Giertych, can you come to us at Poleczki on Wednesday at 10”, Mr. Roman replies, ok. Can it be 11? And that would be enough. It is crazy to assume that a case that has been going on for months or years has to be detained, even if you intend to apply for arrest. The same applies to searches. Detentions, media spectacles devoid of any procedural sense in such matters are simply an abuse of power.

What is worse, this practice was accepted by all the truly democratic leaders of democratic Poland, Buzek, Miler, Tusk, so what should be surprising to Morawiecki, Ziobro or Kaczyński. I do not wish them this, but I am afraid that the next prime minister will not spare them this pleasure at the next political handout.

When will we finally come to the conclusion as a collective that the concept of the Soviet application of law as a tool to protect the legitimate interests of the ruling class is not the only available model for caring for the interests of a democratic State? When, on all sides of the political barricades, will we finally see this as the real problem of our standard of civilization, which should be a matter for all of us?
