Michał Tomczak discusses in Rzeczpospolita daily a somewhat strange, anti-discriminatory judgment of the European Court of Human Rights. The verdict protects an employee against pregnancy-related discrimination, but does not protect the employer against probable abuse by the employee.

Overall, I am glad that Robert Lewandowski is an outstanding footballer, outstanding on a global scale. Probably we have never had such a famous player, I do not want to say – so outstanding, because comparing Lubański, Deyna or Boniek from the old days is so inappropriate that they were not given such a chance as Lewandowski got.

The provisions of the AML IV directive seemed to herald a revolution in the anonymity of business ownership. The widespread introduction of the obligation to disclose beneficial owners in companies, the obligation to create beneficial owner registers in individual countries seemed to introduce a non-exceptional obligation to disclose ownership in business. Jan Lityński was one of the idols of my youth. It was at a time when communist propaganda was able to expose the schemes of the KOR by taking little Janek in the hands of Bolesław Bierut. It was not a time when I wanted to wonder what the left-wing character of people like Kuroń, Modzelewski, Michnik or Lityński was all about. All people of a pro-Western and civilized orientation are ready to defend the independence of courts and judges against those who, under the pretext, want to control the courts. However, do the same people ask themselves – why should we defend this independence, and should the judgments be the same as before?
